WordPress migration

Leave the plugin updates behind. Keep every link.

WordPress runs a huge share of the web, which is exactly why bots attack it all day, and why your site needs plugin, theme and core updates just to stay safe. I move WordPress sites to Redline: fast, secure pages with nothing to update, every permalink kept, and an editor you'll find familiar. Enter your address for a quick answer, or use your export below for an exact one.

I look at your public pages and page list, the same way a visitor would. Nothing is saved unless you ask for a quote.

Typical level

Your plugins decide it. A plain blog or brochure site is a quick move. Page builders like Elementor or Divi mean a redesign.

Typical price

$1,800–2,800 for a quick move, up to $4,000–6,000 when the design is rebuilt. Hosting and care is $150 a month.

Time

1–2 weeks for a quick move, 2–4 weeks with a redesign. Your WordPress site stays live until then.

After the move

Edit pages, posts, photos and menus yourself, with no dashboard full of update notices, or let me: an hour of edits a month is included.

What WordPress costs you to keep

WordPress is free to download. Running it safely isn't. Most small business sites pay in time, money or risk for:

  • Endless updates. WordPress itself, your theme and every plugin each release updates, and any one of them can break the site. Skip them and you leave known holes open.
  • Constant attacks. Because so many sites run WordPress, bots try its login page and its best-known plugins around the clock. A Redline site has no public login page or plugins to attack.
  • Slow pages. Every plugin and page builder adds its own code to each page. Visitors and search engines notice: the old WordPress site in the results above went from 40 to 100 on speed after the move.
  • Hosting, backups and a database. The site needs a server running PHP and a database, plus backups and security plugins to protect them.

On Redline your pages are plain and fast, the platform is kept up to date by me, and there's nothing for you to update.

How your plugins decide the price

Quick move

$1,800–2,800

1–2 weeks

Posts, pages, categories and images, with no page builder. Search plugins like Yoast, Rank Math and All in One SEO are fine: your titles and descriptions come over.

Move + some custom work

$2,800–4,000

2–3 weeks

Form plugins such as Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms or WPForms, set up again in Redline, or custom fields from ACF, Pods or Meta Box, shown the way your site shows them now.

Redesign and move

$4,000–6,000

2–4 weeks

Pages made with a page builder such as Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Beaver Builder, Avada, Bricks or Oxygen. Builder layouts can't be copied out, so I rebuild the design and bring over your words and images.

Not a fit yet

Not covered

For now

Online stores (WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads), paid memberships (MemberPress, Paid Memberships Pro) and courses (LearnDash, LifterLMS). Leave your email and I'll suggest options.

Security, caching and speed plugins such as Wordfence or WP Rocket aren't needed on Redline, so they don't add to the price.

  • Every permalink. Whatever pattern your posts use, such as /2024/03/post-name/ or /blog/post-name/, the same addresses work after the move.
  • Category, tag and author pages. The archive addresses search engines already know keep working.
  • Images and files. They're served from the same /wp-content/uploads/ addresses, so image links in your posts and elsewhere on the web don't change.
  • Redirects you already have, including ones set up with the Redirection plugin.
  • Tested before launch. I check every old address against the new site before we switch over, and you get the list.

On WordPress? Get an exact answer from your export

Your WordPress export shows what a quick check can't: drafts, menus, and how much was built with a page builder.

Your export never leaves your browser. It's analyzed on this page, in memory, and discarded when you close the tab. Nothing is uploaded.

1. Export your site from WordPress

  1. In your WordPress admin, open Tools → Export.
  2. Choose All content.
  3. Click Download Export File. You'll get one .xml file.

2. Drop it here

Optional: paste your Plugins page for a complete plugin list

The export doesn't list installed plugins. In your admin, open Plugins, select the whole page (Ctrl+A / ⌘A), copy it, and paste it here. A plain list of plugin names, one per line, works too.

If you ever leave, here's what you take with you

Your website

As standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript files that any web host can run.

Your data

If your site keeps records such as members, bookings or form entries, you get a complete copy in a format other tools can read.

Your code

Anything built just for your business is yours. I don't own it and I won't keep it.

Your domain

It was always yours, and it goes wherever you go.

The Redline engine stays with me. Everything else goes with you. Your files, data and code are always handed over free. If you'd like help setting them up somewhere else, that's billed at my normal rate.

Questions about moving from WordPress

How much does it cost to move off WordPress?

$1,800–2,800 for a site without a page builder, $2,800–4,000 when forms or custom fields need setting up again, and $4,000–6,000 when the site was built with a page builder like Elementor or Divi. Hosting and care is $150 a month, or $1,500 a year. Stores, paid memberships and courses aren't covered yet.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I leave WordPress?

No. Every permalink, archive page and image address keeps working, and your search titles and descriptions from Yoast or Rank Math come over. Plain, fast pages usually score better: an old WordPress site I moved went from 62 to 91 out of 100 on a search and AI-search audit, with no extra tuning.

Is my WordPress export safe to use on this page?

Yes. The export is read in your own browser and is never uploaded or saved. If you ask for a quote, only the counts and names shown on screen are sent.

My site was built with Elementor or Divi. Can it move?

Yes, as a redesign and move. Page builder layouts can't be copied out of WordPress, so I rebuild the design as plain pages, usually looking the same or better, and bring over all your words and images.

What happens to my plugins?

Most aren't needed. Security, caching and speed plugins do nothing on Redline. Search plugins' titles and descriptions come over, forms are set up again with Redline's built-in forms, and anything else I look at one by one when I quote.

Can I still edit my site like I did in WordPress?

Yes. Redline has a simple editor for pages, posts, photos, menus and search titles, without the update notices. Or send me the change: an hour of edits a month is included in hosting and care.

What about comments and member logins?

Free member logins and members-only pages are supported, and I work with you to map every page behind the login before we switch over. Paid memberships aren't covered yet. Tell me how your site uses comments and I'll include them in the quote.

Who's behind this

I'm Brad Simon, and Coder B Dev is my one-person studio. I've been writing software for more than 30 years: enterprise systems, web applications and SaaS platforms, for companies from startups to large enterprises. Redline is the platform I built so small business sites can get that same engineering without the upkeep. I take on a small number of sites at a time, so each one gets my full attention.

I'd rather you stay because you want to. I've seen too many business owners stuck with a platform because leaving meant losing their site. I don't work that way. Your words, images and data are yours, and so is any code written for your business: I don't claim any rights to it. If you ever decide to move on, I'll hand you your site as standard files, a full copy of your data and all of your own code, with no runaround. The only thing I keep is the Redline engine itself.
